Steel consumption is increasing in all sectors, and water consumption is increasing with it. We use water for processes, cooling, descaling and dusting. But actual consumption is less, most of it being reused or discarded. Most of the water loss comes from evaporation and 90% of the water is rejected after cooling and treatment. Having a complete understanding of the mass balance of water and constituents in water is a first step for the reuse of water in a complex industrial installation such as steel manufacturing. In some areas of water scarcity, zero discharge is increasingly common to encourage reuse. Many industries are taking positive steps to reduce water wastage and high availability of natural water. We need to reduce wasted water and improving the efficiency of water used in manufacturing industries.

Water is using at all stages of the automotive manufacturing process, and water treatment for the automotive industry must be reliable and durable. We think water is not the first thing about the automotive industry. We think of design, handling, fuel economy, performance, power, colour and luxury and generating wastewater contaminated with metals, oils and greases and paint residues. Reducing energy consumption has a direct impact on the carbon footprint. We focus on increasing the amount of recycled water we use for manufacturing processes in water stress so that our impact on water resources is minimal. Many of our water-based processes are sensitive to contaminants. These efforts not only reflect a commitment to adopt responsible water practices but help to mitigate present and future risks associated with limitations in the water supply.
